Laura Dohner, Ph.D.

​​​​​Laura Dohner, Ph.D.  A native Ohioan, Laura now lives in Upstate New York and is on the teaching staff at SUNY Oneonta. She holds a Ph.D in Translation Studies at Binghamton University, earned her M.A. in Translation Studies at Kent State University in Ohio, and her B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature at The University of Akron, Ohio. She has taught composition, literature, and translation courses; she is particularly interested in the politics of translation as it pertains to children's literature. Laura is currently working with children's author Edna Iturralde of Ecuador and has recently completed the full-length translation of Iturralde's YA novel Simon era su nombre (His Name was Simon). Laura is also a music aficionada and enjoys her work as Executive Director of the Catskill Symphony Orchestra.
